DECORATIONS WITH DIAMONDS – EVERYTHING THAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW BEFORE JEWELER’S TIPS

Choosing jewelry with precious stones, not knowing their features, is extremely difficult. What do the symbols on the tags mean? How not to buy a fake? How can I check the authenticity of gems? There are many questions, and the answers are not so easy to find. This article will help you.

A high-quality jewelry with real precious stones always has a sealed tag, which contains all the information necessary for the consumer. You just need to know what the symbols mean.

General rules for the purchase of jewelry with precious stones
Jewelry with precious stones inserts have certificates and tags. If they are not, it is better to refuse to buy. Most likely you will try to sell the product with fake stones or imported into Russia illegally. What you need to pay attention to?

jewelry with a diamond. First of all, on the mark of the assay chamber, which can be viewed through a magnifying glass. It is applied to products made of precious metals, contains the number of the sample and the code of the chamber itself. The absence of signs indicates that you have a fake or contraband product.

Check for sealed tag. It should be on each accessory and contain complete information about the product. The bona fide manufacturer will indicate the weight, cost, presence of inserts and their characteristics, the sample number.

A certificate that duplicates information on the tag is always attached to the gemstone. In addition, this document will indicate the features of the stone: the presence of chips, cracks, inclusions. It is on the basis of the certificate that one can judge the authenticity of diamonds and other stones. If the seller can not provide you with this document – refuse to purchase.

Diamond Tips
A real diamond is an expensive stone, the cost of some crystals can reach hundreds of thousands of rubles.

diamond jewelryOnce unfair sellers try to sell a product with cubic zirconia under the guise of a diamond. This is an artificial stone produced by synthetic means, therefore its real cost is much lower than that of natural diamond.

You can distinguish a diamond from cubic zirconia by the play of light on the edges. The diamond substitute shines less than a natural stone. In doubtful cases, you can drop the product in a glass of water – the diamond is imperceptible in water.

Pay special attention to the accompanying tag and the information printed on it. For example, there may be such a code: “3br Kr57A-0.47-3 / 5”. What does he mean?

The first number indicates the number of gems in the jewelry, followed by the designation of the crystal itself. In our case we are talking about a product with three diamonds, each of which corresponds to the characteristics indicated on the tag.

Cutting Form Designation
With the help of letters, the manufacturer reports the shape of the diamond. On the tag you can find the following form designations (the name of the cut is indicated in brackets):
· Cr – round;
· G – pear-shaped (Pear);
· M – acidic (Marquis);
· Ov – oval (Oval);
· Ce – heart-shaped (Heart);
· And – rectangular with beveled edges (Emerald);
· BP – rectangular (Baguette);
· BT – trapezoid (Baguette);
· P – rectangular (Princess);
· Ra – Octagonal (Radiant);
· KV – square (Square);
· T – triangular (Trilliant);
· Y – angular (Angular).

In our example, the first letters are “Cr”, this means that the diamond has a round shape. The next number “57” indicates the number of faces. In the case of a round diamond, there may be 17 or 57, and, for example, Radiant has 65 or 73 faces (on the tag, respectively, Pa65 or Pa57).

Letter after the number of faces indicates their purity. Symmetry, polishing quality and other parameters are taken into account. The letter “A” means the highest purity of cut, then, in order of decreasing purity, the letters “B”, “C”, “G” follow.

Diamond weight designation
The weight of a diamond is measured in carats. It may be indicated by the letters “car” (if the product is made in Russia) or “ct” (international designation). There may be no letter on the tag. The carat weight of a stone can only be indicated by numbers in the middle or at the end of the code.

Depending on the mass, the stones can be divided into three groups:
· Small – up to 0.29 ct;
· Average – 0.3-0.99 ct;
· Large – over 1 ct.

Connoisseurs of precious stones appreciate diamonds weighing 1 ct, so the price of products with such stones will be high. Most often, jewelry with medium-sized diamonds is found. In our example, “3br Kr57A-0.47-3 / 5” indicates that the diamond has a weight of 0.47 ct, that is, it refers to stones of medium size.

Designation of color and purity of a diamond
In nature, it is rare to find 100% colorless diamonds and, due to its rarity, they have the highest cost. Often there are gems with yellow, brown or gray shades.
