Not far off is a women’s holiday, and already now many men are “puzzled” over what to give to their chosen one. A great solution in choosing a present will be jewelry. But how to choose a good, and most importantly a quality product? Experts from the regional Rospotrebnadzor answered these questions.

Products made of precious metals and precious stones should be grouped by purpose.
Each jewelry that flaunts in the store must have a sealed label attached with the following designations: – name of the jewelry, – manufacturer’s name, logo and address of the manufacturer, – precious metal indicating the sample, – article, – product weight, – product size (for rings, chains, bracelets), – types of precious inserts with weight and quality characteristics, – product price.
After purchase, be sure to save cash register, sales receipt and tag.
When buying a product do not forget to pick up the check. It must contain the name of the goods and the seller, the sample, the type and characteristics of the gem, the article, the date of sale and the price of the goods, the signature of the person selling the goods.
Certificates are transferred to acquired natural cut gems.
When buying a jewelry, carefully inspect it, find the stamp of the assay stamp and the name of the manufacturer (in the case of jewelry products of the domestic manufacturer). If the product is imported, then the nominal may be absent, but the stamp of the inspection of the assay supervision of the established sample must be present.
Selling jewelry without an imprint of state assay stamps of the Russian Federation, as well as imprints of registered manufacturers (for Russian-made products) is not allowed.
The following samples have been installed in the Russian Federation: platinum – 950, 900, 850 gold – 999, 958, 750, 585, 500, 375 silver – 999, 960, 925, 875, 830, 800 palladium – 850, 500. The exceptions are jewelry and other silverware of domestic production weighing up to 3 grams inclusively (excluding inserts), the sale of which is allowed without an imprint of the state assay mark.
Jewelry of good quality can not be returned and exchanged. But if you find a defect in the product that was not agreed upon by the seller, you can replace the product, repair it at the seller’s expense, return the product and get the amount paid for it.
On jewelry tags with jewel inserts, color, frequency and weight should be indicated. The semi-precious (topaz, amethysts, chrysolites, garnets) is indicated simply by the weight of the insert.

We look at the product tag. It may look as follows: 1Br Kr57-0.470-4 / 6A. Designation of numbers: 1Br – the number of diamonds in the product, in this embodiment, it is one. Cr57 – the form of cut, in this case, round 57 faces. 0.470 – the total weight of stones in carats 4 / 6A – the characteristics of color / defect groups, geometric parameters.
Digit to dash means color.
The second says about the transparency of the stone.
Any natural stone has cracks, foreign inclusions, flaws that are visible only under a magnifying glass or microscope. By the way, for jewels in the form of inserts in jewelry certificate is not required, it is replaced by a tag.
